Five surveys were executed in 1813 in Roane County for land associated with Rebecca Holly.

  • REBECCA HOLLY. S#720 4-4-1813. E#1075 1-13-1812. 20 acres on north side of Clinch River below where she now lives. Beginning on river bank. SCC: Allen Snead, Elias T. Allen. Recorded 5-31-1813. Delivered 4-21-1815 to E. Scott.
  • REBECCA HOLLY. S#721 4-4-1813. E#1076 1-13-1812. 10 acres on the waters of Clinch River. SCC: Allen Sneed, E. T. Allen. Recorded 6-1-1813. Delivered 4-21-1815 to E. Scott.
  • REBECCA HOLLY. S#722 4-4-1813. E#1077 1-13-1812. 20 acres on north side of Clinch River. Beginning corner to her 20-acre survey, thence up the river. SCC: Allen Sneed, E. T. Allen. Recorded 6-1-1813. Delivered 4-21-1815 to Edwd Scott.
  • REBECCA HOLLEY. S#723 5-18-1813. E#1555 5-10-1813. 18 acres where she now lives on north side of Clinch River. SCC: Allen Snead, E. T. Allen. Recorded 6-1-1813. Delivered 4-21-1815 to E. Scott.
  • REBECCA HOLLEY. S#724 5-18-1813. E#1556 5-10-1813. 12 acres on the River Ridge on north side of Clinch River including a small improvement. SCC: E. T. Allen, Allen Snead. Recorded 6-1-1813. Delivered 4-21-1815 to E. Scott.

It seems, though, that Rebecca Holly did not have clear title to these five parcels, until June 6, 1815, when the State of Tennessee granted 80 acres of land to Rebecca Holly in five tracts.

  • Grant #3421:  20 acres
  • Grant #3422:  10 acres
  • Grant #3423:  20 acres
  • Grant #3424:  18 acres
  • Grant #3425:  12 acres

Roane County, Tennessee

In 1814 Elias T. Allen, neighbor and future son-in-law of Rebecca Ferrell, paid taxes on 80 acres on the Clinch River. In 1815 Elias Allen was on the tax list, but he had no land. In 1815 Rebeccah Holly paid taxes on 80 acres on the Clinch River. These 80 acres were next to a listing for "Frayer" (Frazier) Holly, who had no land then. Rebeccah again paid taxes on the 80 acres in 1816. Frazer Holly also appears in the 1816 tax list. Tax lists after 1815 excluded Elias Allen.

Virginia

Per records from Campbell Co VA, in 1813, "Rebeckah Holley of Tnn & Co. of Roan sells her interest to Nicholas Harrison for $504, interest etc. to 63 ac. willed to her by her father, William Ferrall."

On Dec. 3, 1816, Rebeccah Holly sold for $300.00 80 acres lying on the north side of the Clinch River to Sally [Holly] Buckhannan. This transaction was not proved until Sep. 14, 1818, and not recorded until July 1, 1819. This sale included the house where Rebecca had lived.

One can approximate the location of the Holly homestead in Roane County at approximately 35.895° N, 84.475° W. That is northeast of Kingston, the county seat, and west-southwest of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

The Clinch River begins north of Morristown, Tennessee, where it receives runoff from the Clinch Mountains. The Clinch River generally flows from northeast to southwest. It passes the southern edge of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and a few miles further receives it tributary, the Emery River. After a few more miles the Clinch River feeds into the Tennessee River.
